MEC202 Industrial Awareness and Group Project is a Year 3 undergraduate module designed to equip students with essential knowledge, experience, and skills in engineering product development, project management, teamwork, and leadership.
A Project-Based Learning Module
The module is structured around project-based learning pedagogy, where students work in groups to complete an engineering product development project. These projects span a wide range of applications across various sectors, including automatic driving vehicle, intelligent manufacturing, smart household technologies, and health care Applications. Students are introduced to cutting-edge engineering technologies, such as sensing, actuation, and control systems for intelligent applications, as well as the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI.

Project Development and Management
In addition to subject-specific technical skills, the module emphasizes the development of project planning and management skills, as well as transferable skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation. These competencies are crucial for success in both academic and professional settings.
The module benefits from close collaboration with local industrial partners, who provide real-world projects that reflect the latest market demands and technological trends in fields such as Automatic Driving Vehicle, intelligent household applications, and Health Care Applications. These collaborations ensure that students gain hands-on experience with industry-relevant challenges.
As a part of this module learning and teaching activity, we offer opportunities to participate in both domestic and international engineering competitions, allowing students to showcase their ideas and skills developed throughout the course.
